The Roots Rider Rebel 2 Pro is the long-range version of our folding step-through platform. Same frame, same fold, same low step-over — but a 52V 20Ah battery instead of 48V 15Ah, a high-torque motor with 1300W peak output, and a torque sensor that meters the assist to how hard you are actually pushing. It is the Rebel for people who ride further, carry more, or live somewhere hilly.

What a torque sensor changes
A cadence sensor only knows whether the pedals are turning, so the motor arrives in a lump. A torque sensor measures how hard you are pushing and matches the assist to your effort.
You notice it in three places: pulling away from a standing start on a hill, riding with a loaded rack, and riding slowly in traffic where a cadence bike keeps surging. The Pro simply feels like a bicycle with strong legs.
Rebel 2 or Rebel 2 Pro?
Identical frame, identical fold, identical step-through. Everything that differs is in this chart.
If you ride under 20 miles a day on flat ground, the Rebel 2 is enough and saves you money. If you ride further, climb, or carry weight, the Pro is the one that will not annoy you in six months.

Built for the mixed commute
Car or train for the long leg, then unfold and ride the last two miles. The Pro's range means you are not thinking about charge on a normal week, and the IPX6 rating means a wet Tuesday is not a problem.
Owners regularly tell us they bought two: one each, both folded into the back of the same car.
Who the Rebel 2 Pro is for
Buy it if
- You ride more than 20 miles in a day, or you do not want to think about charging.
- You live somewhere hilly, or you carry a loaded rack.
- You want the fold and the step-through, without the range compromise.
- You ride in the rain and want the IPX6 rating.
Look elsewhere if
- You ride short flat trips — the Rebel 2 costs less and does the job.
- You want a cafe-racer look — that is the Cheetah 2.
- You need suspension for trails — the Cougar has it front and rear.
- You carry an adult passenger daily — the Runabout 2 is built for it.

Rebel 2 Pro questions, answered
What does the Pro add over the standard Rebel 2?
A 52V 20Ah battery instead of 48V 15Ah, up to 80 miles of claimed range instead of 60, a high-torque motor with 1300W peak output, a torque sensor alongside the cadence sensor, and an IPX6 water rating. The folding frame, the step-through and the rack are identical.
How far can it go on one charge?
Up to 80 miles under the manufacturer's test conditions. On mixed riding at a middle assist level, plan on 45 to 55 miles.
Is it waterproof?
It is rated IPX6, which covers rain and road spray. Do not submerge it and do not pressure-wash the battery or the motor.
Does it fold like the standard Rebel?
Yes, identically: fold the pedals, drop the seat post, release the stem, fold the frame hinge. It fits in a car boot.
Can it take a child seat?
The rear rack accepts a child seat with a backrest and footrests, sold separately, within the 400 lb total payload. Check your local rules on carrying a child before you ride.
Which colour should I pick?
Red is the one people notice, Antracit is the one that hides road dirt, Turquoise is the one owners photograph most. There is no mechanical difference between them.
Is the battery certified?
Yes. UL 2849 for the bike and UL 2271 for the battery. Charge indoors on a hard surface with the supplied charger.
Range, speed and payload figures are the manufacturer's published specifications, measured under their test conditions. Your results will differ with rider weight, terrain, tire pressure, temperature and assist level. Roots Rider is operated by GHRAM LLC, Wyoming.
