Two bikes, one order, one delivery. The Flux is the long-tail cargo bike that takes passengers on its rear deck; the Runabout 2 is the step-through utility bike with a rack welded into the frame. This is the pair for a household where both adults ride and both of them carry something — one taking the children, the other taking the shopping.

- One Runabout 2 step-through cargo electric bike, with its 52V 15Ah battery and charger
- Keys for both battery locks
- Pedals, wheels and handlebar hardware for both, and the tools to fit them

The two bikes ship together as one order. Both are full-size machines in large cartons — make sure someone is there to take the delivery.

Which one does what
The Flux takes the passengers
- One or two children on the rear deck, with footboards.
- An adult passenger, with the seat pad and backrest.
- 180 lb on the deck, because the deck is part of the frame.
- The longer of the two — 72 inches, so measure your parking.
The Runabout 2 takes the load
- 13.8 inches of standover — the lowest step-through we sell.
- A welded rack rated for 100 lb: crate, panniers or a child seat.
- Fat 4-inch tyres, so kerbs and rough paths stop mattering.
- Shorter and easier to park than the Flux.
Choosing your colours
The colour selector on this page chooses the finish of the Runabout 2: Pink, Cream, Black or Blue. If you would like a particular finish on the Flux as well, tell us when you order and we will confirm what is in stock before anything is dispatched.
The photograph on this page is the manufacturer's product shot of the pair. The Flux finishes we currently sell are Nebula and Grey — see the Flux page for both.
Questions about the two-bike order
Do both bikes arrive at the same time?
Yes. It is one order, one dispatch and one delivery, from our California warehouse.
Both bikes carry things — is that not the same bike twice?
No. The Runabout 2 carries things on a 100 lb rack and is short enough to park anywhere. The Flux carries people on a 180 lb deck and is a foot longer for it. If you only ever carry bags, two Runabout 2s would serve you better and cost less.
Which one suits a shorter rider?
The Runabout 2, on paper — 13.8 inches of standover is the lowest we sell. Both are step-through, so neither asks you to swing a leg over a loaded frame.
Can I choose different colours for each bike?
The selector above sets the Runabout 2's colour. Tell us in the order notes if you have a preference for the Flux and we will confirm availability before dispatch.
Can I return just one of the two?
Talk to us before you send anything back. A pack is priced as a pair, so returning one bike changes the price of the other — we will tell you exactly where you stand before you post it.
Do I need anything else on day one?
A floor pump with a gauge, a proper lock for each bike, and a helmet each. If you plan to carry a passenger on the Flux, add the seat pad and the footboards.
Range, speed and payload figures are the manufacturer's published specifications, measured under their test conditions. Your results will differ with rider weight, load, terrain, tyre pressure, temperature and assist level. Roots Rider is operated by GHRAM LLC, Wyoming.
